Evans, a person with quadriplegia, tested Head-Worn Assistive Teleoperation (HAT) — an experimental interface to control a mobile robot — in his home, using the interface to control a robot to accomplish daily tasks. Akhil Padmanabha and Janavi Gupta, researchers from Carnegie Mellon University's School of Computer Science, developed HAT and stayed with the Evans during the test.
