Example of Generic Parts Technique: Given the example of a goal to tie two things together, with the resource being only a candle, applying the Generic Parts Technique, the candle’s composition is described as consisting of wax and a wick. A more generic description is ‘string’, which is closely associated with tying things together. An even more generic description of a string with smaller parts is ‘long interwoven fibrous strands’.
This method can help to supply new information or to help re-interpret existing information about the resources involved by systematically breaking down the resource into its components of meaning and uses.
