A diagram illustrating 2D difference diffraction images over time following ionization and the separated isotropic and asymmetric signal components. Asymmetry appears in the scattering images due to the deflection of the electron beam by the generated ions at different azimuthal angles. Each asymmetric image has been decomposed into isotropic and asymmetric components. By comparing the changes in the size of each isotropic and asymmetric signal, it was confirmed that structural changes manifest with a delay of approximately 4 picoseconds.
