The annual changes for RUS in the total area and the average size during 1990-2020 in the entire BTH region (a), Beijing (b), Tianjin (c), and Hebei (d).

To present the annual changes of RUS over the past three decades, the total area of RUS in the entire BTH region as well as three administrative zones were calculated for each year and the break-points for their change trends were detected based on the piecewise linear regression method.
