WASHINGTON, July 24, 2020 -- Journalists may now apply for press credentials for the American Chemical Society (ACS) Fall 2020 Virtual Meeting & Expo, one of the largest scientific conferences of the year. The meeting will be held online Aug. 17-20, 2020.

Thousands of scientists and other attendees are expected to gather for more than 6,000 presentations on topics that include food and nutrition, medicine, health, energy, the environment and other fields where chemistry plays a central role. Some of the presentations will connect with the meeting's theme of "Moving Chemistry From Bench to Market."

Embargoed copies of press releases and a press conference schedule will be available the week before the meeting. Reporters will have access to the press conferences at http://www.acs.org/fall2020pressconferences.

ACS considers requests for press credentials and complimentary registration to national meetings from reporters (staff and freelance) and public information officers at government, nonprofit and educational institutions. Marketing and public relations professionals, lobbyists and scientists do not qualify as press and must register via the main meeting page. Journal managing editors, book commissioning editors, acquisitions editors, publishers, and those who do not produce news for a publication or institution also do not qualify. To request credentials, please email us using the contact information.

The American Chemical Society (ACS) is a nonprofit organization chartered by the U.S. Congress. ACS' mission is to advance the broader chemistry enterprise and its practitioners for the benefit of Earth and its people. The Society is a global leader in providing access to chemistry-related information and research through its multiple research solutions, peer-reviewed journals, scientific conferences, eBooks and weekly news periodical Chemical & Engineering News. ACS journals are among the most cited, most trusted and most read within the scientific literature; however, ACS itself does not conduct chemical research. As a specialist in scientific information solutions (including SciFinder® and STN®), its CAS division powers global research, discovery and innovation. ACS' main offices are in Washington, D.C., and Columbus, Ohio.
