Neuroinflammation and Alzheimer's disease

Peer-Reviewed Publication

Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences

Researchers report that the small molecule DAPPD, which promotes phagocytosis of microglia cells in the brain, diminished amyloid deposition and improved cognitive function in transgenic mouse models of Alzheimer's disease; the results suggest that compounds countering neuroinflammation might represent a viable therapeutic strategy against neurodegenerative diseases, according to the authors.

Article #19-16318: "N,N?-Diacetyl-p-phenylenediamine restores microglial phagocytosis and improves cognitive defects in Alzheimer's disease transgenic mice," by Min Hee Park et al.
