The latest volume in the IPS-Nathan Lectures series, Can Singapore Fall? Making the Future for Singapore, addresses the issues and concerns good governments face, such as succession, transition, sustainable and continual growth, and legacy, amongst others.

Launched on 11 July 2018 at the Lee Kwan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore, Can Singapore Fall? is a compilation of three lectures Mr Lim Siong Guan delivered between September and November last year. The aim of the lectures and the new book was simply "to get Singaporeans to think", said Mr Lim at the launch. "We need to think about how to not just do good for ourselves, but also for future generations...We need to think about what kind of society we aspire to be."

In the foreword of the volume, Mr Lim puts it this way, "[J]ust continuing on the path of yesterday is to guarantee a future that will not be so bright, possibly even a future that may not be there...While the theme of the lecture series is 'Can Singapore Fall?', one will soon realise that...when we ask the question in that way, the answer can only be, 'Of course, it can.' The real challenge is to find a way to think and act, so as to minimise the likelihood of Singapore falling."

The book retails for US$25 / £22 (paperback) and US$48 / £42 (hardback) at major bookstores and online. More information on the book may be found on https://www.worldscientific.com/worldscibooks/10.1142/10935.
