Brain connectivity and creativity

Peer-Reviewed Publication

Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences

Based on functional MRI data from 163 people, average age 22.5 years, researchers report a functional brain network associated with creative ability involving brain regions belonging to the default mode, executive, and salience networks, which typically work in opposition to each other, and that the strength of functional connectivity within this network could predict an individual's score on a test of creative thinking ability.
