Los Angeles, CA (October 10, 2017) Providing students, scholars, and practitioners an introduction to the full scope of the field, SAGE Publishing announces the publication of The SAGE Encyclopedia of Abnormal and Clinical Psychology. The new 7-volume resource contains more than 1,400 signed articles that discuss essential approaches and theories, numerous mental health disorders, assessment tools and psychotherapeutic interventions, and the social, legal, and cultural foundations that have caused controversy in abnormal and clinical psychology.

"The Encyclopedia of Abnormal and Clinical Psychology was developed to bring together foundational constructs and contemporary developments in the fields," writes volume editor Amy Wenzel, Ph.D. "It highlights the richness and diversity of theory, research, and application aimed to advance the understanding, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental health disorders. Although general psychology handbooks and encyclopedias include essays on abnormal and clinical psychology, such works do not provide students with an accessible reference for understanding the full scope of the field."

The set is geared toward undergraduate students, graduate students pursuing a degree in clinical psychology or related fields, people who want to gain straightforward information about the field, and established scholars and practitioners who want to learn about topics outside their specific areas of expertise.

The encyclopedia has a Reader's Guide with 25 topical categories, including anxiety disorders, historical context, psychological constructs, theories and theoretical frameworks, and treatment, therapeutic approaches, and relevant constructs.
