On 10 February 2016, the University of Leuven (KU Leuven) will confer an honorary doctorate on Anantha Chandrakasan. On the occasion of its Patron Saint's Day, the university wishes to honour him for his contribution to the field of electronic circuit design.

Professor Anantha Chandrakasan is a world authority on energy-efficient circuits or chips. These chips are particularly relevant today, because the emerging Internet of Things requires chips that can function autonomously, without human intervention, electricity, or batteries. Professor Chandrakasan is also renowned for his textbooks and papers, as well as for being the driving force behind the International Solid-State Circuits Conference.

An interview with honorary doctor Anantha Chandrakasan is available here: http://www.kuleuven.be/english/news/2016/anantha_chandrakasan.

On the occasion of its Patron Saint's Day, KU Leuven will also award honorary doctorates to Italian writer Alessandro Baricco, human rights activist Peter N. Bouckaert, CRISPR-Cas9 discoverers Emanuelle Charpentier and Jennifer Doudna, and to dispute resolution expert Carrie J. Menkel-Meadow.
