Peer-Reviewed Publication

Elsevier

Amsterdam, November 5, 2015 - Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and solutions, is pleased to announce the launch of open access journal: Physics in Medicine. Published as a quarterly journal and adding to Elsevier's expanding Physics portfolio of journals, Physics in Medicine will publish manuscripts focusing on the application of theoretical and practical physics to medicine, physiology and biology.

"The scope of this journal is well suited to provide a platform for the vast community of physicists whose research may not be immediately applicable to clinics or hospitals. I believe that Medicine in Physics will play a special role in the physics community dedicated to fundamental physics applied to medicine," said Nico Declercq, Associate Professor at The George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering, Georgia Tech Lorraine-France, appointed Co-Editor-in-Chief of Physics in Medicine.

"I am happy to be an editor of this new journal. Today, physicists in various fields have expanded their domains of research into the complex biological system. I want to help those physicists remain up-to-date with developments in these sub-fields. The results of their research do form pillars of medical advances in disease diagnosis and treatment afterall," added Patrick Hermann Wagner, Professor at KU Leuven- Belgium, appointed Co-Editor-in-Chief of Physics in Medicine.

Antje Schuetz, Publisher, Physics in Medicine at Elsevier added, "The application of theoretical and practical physics to medicine, physiology and biology forms a new interdisciplinary community in science. Physics in Medicine responds to the publication needs of this community and provides a novel platform for physics research that is related to medicine. We are especially pleased to launch the journal as an OA publication - an option of publishing which answers to the needs of researchers in the field."
