AAO-HNSF to build clinical data registry for otolaryngology

Selects FIGmd for its registry development

Business Announcement

American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery

DALLAS, TX -- During a morning session today at the American Academy of Otolaryngology--Head and Neck Surgery Foundation's Annual Meeting & OTO EXPOSM, James C. Denneny III, MD, Executive Vice President and CEO, announced the selection of FIGmd to build RegentSM, the first otolaryngology-specific clinical data registry.

"We chose to work with FIGmd based on their experience making data collection meaningful. FIGmd has the technology to collect data directly from EHRs, minimizing the burden of data collection on physicians and their practices. And they are renowned for their project management capacity and quick implementation," said Dr. Denneny.

Regent's collection of clinical data will ultimately help to improve patient care by documenting care outcomes and identifying potential gaps in clinician knowledge and performance. It will monitor patterns of care, progression of disease, treatment effectiveness and safety. Regent will help practices report on measures for federal and private quality reporting programs, demonstrate the value of care, negotiate with insurers, and prepare for alternative payment models. It will support physician certification and licensure maintenance, and facilitate post-market surveillance for medical devices and drugs.

"Our organization has an ongoing commitment to empower otolaryngologists to provide the best patient care," continued Dr. Denneny, "Partnering with FIGmd to develop Regent is one of the best things we can do for patients and physicians alike."
