SAGE to launch Scars, Burns & Healing in partnership with The Katie Piper Foundation

London, UK (August 11, 2015)- SAGE is delighted to announce a new partnership with The Katie Piper Foundation to launch the unique journal Scars, Burns & Healing. The journal brings together the specialist focus of scar and burns research with the breadth of the science and medicine related to wound healing, and will be accepting its first submissions from summer 2015.

A truly multi-disciplinary, open-access (OA) journal, Scars, Burns & Healing is a platform for research relevant to all clinical specialties related to scar and burn care, and all scientific disciplines from genetics and immunology, to nanotechnology and tissue engineering, associated with wound healing.

Carol Borwick, Director of Fundraising & Operations, The Katie Piper Foundation, commented on the launch:

"The launch of Scars, Burns & Healing is an exciting new initiative for The Katie Piper Foundation. The Foundation aims to deliver a gold standard of rehabilitation and scar management for burn survivors and this academic journal will ultimately help burn survivors achieve a significantly improved recovery in the long term. Scars, Burns & Healing will seek to publish suitable material relevant to all clinical specialties related to scar and burn care and all scientific disciplines from genetics and immunology, to nanotechnology and tissue engineering related to wound healing.

The Katie Piper Foundation helps to make it easier to live with burns and scars. Founded by acid-attack survivor Katie Piper in 2009, The Katie Piper Foundation is the leading burns charity in the UK and aims to deliver a gold standard of rehabilitation and scar management for burn survivors. Its vision is a world where scars do not limit a person's function, social inclusion or sense of well-being.
