Elsevier and the International Solar Energy Society renew publishing agreement

Elsevier continues to publish Solar Energy Journal and announces changes on the editorial team to better serve the scientific community

Amsterdam, June 3, 2015 - Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, and the International Solar Energy Society (ISES) are pleased to announce a renewal of their publishing agreement. Under the agreement, Elsevier will continue to provide publishing services for the society's journal Solar Energy. ISES and Elsevier have worked together continuously since 2002.

Solar Energy is published once a month and is the official journal of ISES. The journal has a 2013 Impact Factor of 3.541 and ranks 19 of 82 journals in the Energy & Fuels category according to the Journal Citations Reports® published by Thomson Reuters.

Introducing the New Editorial Structure

Under the leadership of the Editor-in-Chief, Dr. D.Y. Goswami, the Editorial team has been expanded to include four Subject Editors who will cover the most prolific areas of the journal. Over the past 5 years the number of submissions to the journal has increased by 27% and the number of articles published has more than doubled. Research in the solar energy and all renewable energy fields is driving force to achieving the 100% renewable energy transformation.

Elsevier and ISES are pleased to announce the appointments of the new subject editors:

  • Dr. Jan Kleissl, Associate Professor at University of California at San Diego (UCSD), USA, and Associate Director of UCSD Center for Energy Research, will lead the Solar Resources and Energy Meteorology's subject
  • Dr. Ranga Pitchumani, Chief Scientist for the SunShot Initiative at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the George R. Goodson Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Virginia Tech (USA), will be responsible for the Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) and High Temperature Applications subject area.
  • Dr. Yanjun Dai, Professor at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University will lead Solar Heating & Cooling, Buildings and other applications
  • Dr. Nicola Romeo, Professor at the University of Parma will lead the area of Photovoltaics
