Carlos Moreno, M.D., M.S.P.H., the C. Frank Webber, M.D. Chair in Family Medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), has been recognized for enhancing the credibility of family medicine in an academic setting by the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine Foundation (STFM).

Moreno is the chairman of the Department of Family and Community Medicine at UTHealth Medical School and is actively involved in the teaching of medical students and residents as well as maintaining an active clinical practice with UT Physicians.

He was presented the F. Marian Bishop Leadership Award at the 48th STFM Annual Spring Conference in Orlando, Fla.

Moreno attended the University of Texas at Austin and earned a medical degree from Harvard Medical School. He completed a residency in family practice at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

Moreno is a past president of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine. The society is an association of nearly 5,000 innovative family medicine educators. These teachers include medical school professors, preceptors, residency program faculty, residency program directors and others involved in family medicine education.
