Milano| New York | Heidelberg, 11 December 2014 Springer and Il Mulino, the Italian specialist publisher for social sciences and economics, have signed a co-publishing agreement. Starting in January 2015, they will join forces and publish the English-language journal Economia Politica - Journal of Analytical and Institutional Economics. The new agreement combines Springer's worldwide scientific scope with the Italian cultural roots of Il Mulino. The journal was previously published by the Italian partner, who founded the journal in 1984.

Andrea Angiolini, Editorial Director at the co-publisher Il Mulino, said, "As an academic publishing house, Il Mulino understands very well the value of the international visibility of its journals, particularly the economic ones. With this in mind, the agreement with Springer to co-publish Economia Politica is an opportunity to offer a wider readership to an established publication."

Economia Politica - Journal of Analytical and Institutional Economics publishes peer-reviewed articles that link theory and analysis in political economy, promoting a deeper understanding of economic realities and more effective courses of policy action. The new concept of the journal will help to reinforce its position in the European and international economic scientific community. Furthermore, its new orientation increases its pluralistic approach to how institutions and innovation influence economic change at different stages of development. It will be published in print and online versions three times a year.

Prof. Alberto Quadrio Curzio, Founder and Editor-in-Chief, said: "In thirty years, Economia Politica has established itself as a top-level journal, combining economics with policies, and theories with facts. The recent economic crisis has demonstrated that a 'political economy' approach is essential. We have therefore chosen to collaborate with Springer in order to reach a much wider international audience."

"Springer's portfolio of economics journals has now been enriched with the valuable addition of Economia Politica - Journal of Analytical and Institutional Economics. It boasts three decades of prestigious and influential history. Its quality research will be put to use in the commitment to new challenges," said Maria Cristina Acocella, Assistant Editor, Business and Economics at Springer.
