Springer and Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU) have signed an agreement to jointly publish books, journals and digital databases covering the BJTU's strongest research disciplines. The first and most important project of the collaboration is the international book series Advances in High-speed Rail Technology. Starting in 2015, three to five books will be published annually in the series.

Advances in High-speed Rail Technology will present the latest theories, techniques and methodologies in the multidisciplinary field of high-speed railways, focusing on advances and findings from China. It will include monographs, professional books and edited volumes from conferences and workshops. All volumes will be authored or edited by established experts in their fields and undergo rigorous peer review. The books are aimed at researchers, graduate students and professionals. The project has secured the full support of the China Railway Corporation, formerly the Ministry of Railways. It will be part of the national strategy to export the technology and equipment of high-speed railways to other countries to help them improve their infrastructure while at the same time enhancing the reputation of products "made in China."

Bin Ning, President of Beijing Jiaotong University, said, "Our university focuses on science and technological innovation as our development strategy. I believe the collaboration between the BJTU and Springer will offer a new opportunity to facilitate our development and academic achievements as well as help the BJTU to develop internationally."

"Springer works closely with Chinese authors and local partners in order to bring their outstanding research results to the world," said Hubertus von Riedesel, Executive Vice President at Springer. "I am confident that the book series will be very successful and will have a global impact in the field of high-speed rail technology."

Directly affiliated with China's Ministry of Education, Beijing Jiaotong University is a key national university sponsored jointly by the state's Ministry of Education, China Railway Corporation and the City of Beijing. The university has become an important base to turn out talent, especially in information technology and urban rail transit, for the economic and social development of China. It is also an influential institution which can help to solve significant technological and policy-making problems in the development of the country's economy, society and modern transportation systems.
