Business Announcement

American College of Cardiology

Symphony Health Solutions, a provider of high-value data, analytics and technology solutions for life science manufacturers, payers and providers, and the American College of Cardiology (ACC), a professional organization dedicated to improving cardiovascular health, today announced they have entered into a business relationship to develop new insights from an integrated healthcare database, which will include assets from the ACC's rich National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR) and Symphony Health's Integrated DataverseTM. The combined asset will support research aimed at advancing scientific understanding of cardiovascular care, especially as it provides analysis of the entire patient experience before, during, and after a hospital stay.

"This partnership with Symphony Health Solutions is a step toward further improving cardiovascular care," said ACC President John Gordon Harold, MD, MACC. "While scientific advances have helped dramatically reduce cardiovascular deaths in the United States in the last 40 years, heart disease is still the number one killer. We are optimistic this collaboration will provide new insights that will allow us to continue to move the needle in the right direction."

Symphony Health Solutions will integrate the data assets and provide an analytic environment leveraging their DecisionFlowTM platform. DecisionFlowTM is a leading edge, cloud-based, big data analytic environment supporting defined and ad hoc analysis of the combined data asset. The organizations will collaborate in using the integrated data and DecisionFlowTM to complete research projects focused on clinical outcomes and effectiveness, therapy adoption and use, and population evaluation.

"We believe in a rapidly evolving ecosystem where evidence-based and analytically empowered decision making will shape every corner of the industry. We cannot underestimate the power of data and analytics to positively and significantly shift our ability to combat diseases of the heart, an issue that is so important to our nation's health. Collaborating with scientists and physicians at the ACC will help us expand our data, analysis and research capabilities by addressing, head-on, the strategic and empirical challenges of delivering high quality, cost-effective healthcare interventions," said Frank Lavelle, CEO of Symphony Health Solutions.

Analytics solutions produced through the collaboration will have broad applicability across the healthcare market. Entities such as providers and life sciences organizations, with whom ACC and Symphony Health Solutions engage today, will also benefit from the new research offerings.
