"Dr. Koh's career has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to disease prevention and health promotion and the elimination of health disparities," says SOPHE President Kelli McCormack Brown PhD, CHES. "SOPHE is proud to recognize Dr. Koh for modeling comprehensive, collaborative, and community-oriented approaches that go beyond examining individual health behaviors to address the social determinants of health."

As the Assistant Secretary for Health, Dr. Koh is continuing to advance the Tobacco Control Strategic Action Plan, which has served as a framework for reaching the Healthy People 2020 goal of reducing adult smoking rates to 12 percent by 2020. SOPHE has used this initiative as a guide to launch its Smoking Cessation and Reduction in Pregnancy Treatment (SCRIPT) program, an effective, evidence-based program designed to be a component of patient education programs for prenatal care providers. SOPHE is delighted to welcome Dr. Koh as he shares his extensive knowledge and wealth of experience with fellow health professionals.
