Philadelphia PA (October 25, 2012) – The Journal of Public Health Management and Practice, the premier source of practice-based information for public health management expert, announced today the availability of the journal on the iPad to be launched with a special November/December issue focused on public health services and systems research. The Journal of Public Health Management and Practice, (JPHMP) is published in print, online and digitally by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, a part of Wolters Kluwer Health.

"In today's increasingly digital environment, offering the journal on the iPad provides an important option for our readers to have convenient, anytime access to the critical public health information in the journal," said JPHMP Editor-in-Chief Lloyd F. Novick, MD, MPH. "We are very pleased to bring the journal to the digital forefront and make it available for demonstration at the APHA 140th Annual Conference, October 27-31, in San Francisco."

The November/December special issue, guest edited by Glen P. Mays, PhD, MPH and Douglas Scutchfield, MD, offers articles based on research funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation exploring public health services and systems research (PHSSR), and its impact on the organization, financing, and delivery of public health services. Advancements in the PHSSR field, supported by leading public health professional associations and the government, serve as a compass for the direction the field must take in the face of economic uncertainties and fiscal pressures in order to best support public health. However, as Mays notes, as a relatively new field of research, PHSSR must adopt improved measurement approaches and analytic methods, and cultivate improved data sources, to produce more definitive evidence. Articles in this issue cover recent advances in PHSSR, include a broad scope of topics, methodologies, and practical applications, and span topics in public health organization, governance, financing, workforce, and decision making. A podcast from the Robert Wood Johnson foundation is also available on the iPad app.
