Business Announcement

Elsevier

Oxford, May 31, 2012 – Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, is pleased to announce the launch of the new journal Economics of Transportation.

As the official journal of the International Transportation Economics Association (ITEA), Economics of Transportation welcomes both theoretical and applied papers that make important contributions to transportation economics. The journal also publishes papers that research the interaction between transportation and other economic activities; papers that seek to promote cross fertilization with other fields of economics including labor, trade, urban economics, and industrial organization; and substantive papers on timely policy issues relating to transportation.

"There is a clear demand for a strong journal that is very visible among the economics journals and that can be a well recognized outlet for the best papers in the field of transportation economics," commented Professor Erik Verhoef, VU University Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and Professor Mogens Fosgerau, Technical University of Denmark, appointed editors of the journal.

Chris Pringle, Executive Publisher at Elsevier, added, "In recent years, transportation economics issues such as road pricing, privatization, etc., have climbed dramatically up policymakers' agendas and stimulated a flood of research. The growing importance of this field provides the opportunity to create a new high quality journal to serve it."

Economics of Transportation will publish two issues in 2012, expanding to follow a regular quarterly schedule from 2013 on. For more information or to submit a paper, go to: http://www.journals.elsevier.com/economics-of-transportation.
