Philadelphia, PA, January 25, 2011 – Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics announce that the Journal of the American Dietetic Association has become the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, mirroring the name change of the association on behalf of which it is published.

"The new name, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, was chosen because it promotes the strong science background and academic expertise of our members, primarily registered dietitians. Nutrition science underpins wellness, prevention, and treatment," said registered dietitian and Academy President Sylvia Escott-Stump, MA, RD, LDN.

The Journal, the world's premier source of scholarly, peer-reviewed information relating to the practice and science of food, nutrition, and dietetics, serves the Academy membership as well as the global community of nutrition experts. It directly supports the Academy's continuing goals of advancing professional knowledge across the range of research and practice issues such as: nutritional science, medical nutrition therapy, public health nutrition, food science and biotechnology, food service systems, leadership and management, and dietetics education.

"2012 marks a new year, a new name and new opportunities for the Journal," commented Editor-in-Chief Linda van Horn, PhD, RD. We strive for excellence in publishing research on nutrition and dietetics that will enhance the professional knowledge and clinical skills of our membership and readers in general in an ever-changing world."

"Elsevier is particularly proud of its long-standing association with the Academy. The Journal continues to flourish and provide groundbreaking research, practical tools and guidelines for professional advancement to its ever-expanding readership," noted Anthony Trioli, MBA, Publisher, Elsevier Health Sciences.

New in 2012 is the Journal's participation in Elsevier's Article in Press (AIP) program through which articles are published online ahead of their appearance in specific issues. This presents tangible benefits to both authors and readers because research findings become available and citable more quickly.

Via its robust online platform Elsevier offers an extensive Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics archive with complete availability of full-text articles from 1993 to the present.

The Journal is the recipient of three prestigious publishing awards from the Hermes Creative Awards, the American Society of Healthcare Publication Editors, and the Gold Circle Awards. The Journal has a current Impact Factor of 3.244 in the Nutrition and Dietetics category of the Journal Citation Reports®, published by Thomson Reuters.
