WASHINGTON, DC -- The American Geophysical Union (AGU) recently announced its 2012 class of Fellows. This honor is given to individual AGU members who have made exceptional scientific contributions and attained acknowledged eminence in the fields of Earth and space sciences.
Since the establishment of the AGU Fellows program 50 years ago, and in accordance with AGU bylaws, no more than 1 percent of the total membership of AGU is recognized annually.
The following 61 individuals have been elected as 2012 Fellows. They will be recognized during an Honors Ceremony at the 2012 AGU Fall Meeting, to be held 6-10 December, in San Francisco:
