Oxford, November 16, 2011 – Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, has announced the publication of the first volume of the new journal Research in Transportation Business and Management. It publishes 3 issues per year, covering research on international aspects of transport management such as business strategy, communication, sustainability, finance, human resource management, law, logistics, marketing, franchising, privatisation and commercialisation.

The first volume is on Airport Management, and forthcoming volumes include Accessibility in Public Transport, Flexible Transport Services, Logistics and Management of Transport in Remote Regions.

"I am very pleased with the launch of Research in Transportation Business and Management and feel that it will contribute to both scholarly advancement of knowledge and the state of managerial practice within transportation," said Professor Stephen Ison, from Loughborough University, UK, Co-Editor of the journal. "I am very excited by the promise of this journal. In addition to state-of-the-art research on transportation business issues, we have raised the bar for scholars by seeking that they address the managerial implications of their research. I expect that this journal will bridge the divide that sometimes exists between practitioners and scholars, serving both well," Professor Mary Brooks from Dalhousie University, Canada, Co-Editor of the journal, added.

All articles in the first issue are freely available online.More information on the journal can be found on the Elsevier website: http://www.elsevier.com/locate/rtbm.
