Philadelphia, PA – 26 July, 2011 – Elsevier, the leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, will present awards to outstanding members of the wilderness medicine community at this year's upcoming Wilderness Medical Society 28th Wilderness Medicine Scientific Conference & Annual Meeting, taking place in Snowmass, CO, July 29th - August 3rd.
The aim of the Wilderness Medicine Society is to provide academic background as well as deliver specific skills to health care professionals that will make them effective providers of relief in austere environments and adverse conditions. This year, the WMS is introducing a certification program, starting with "Wilderness Medicine: Disaster and Humanitarian Response."

- The Elsevier Excellence in Education Award will recognize four outstanding students in wilderness medicine.
All award recipients will be given a Barnes & Noble NOOK Color™, the Reader's Tablet™, pre-loaded with eBook content by Elsevier Author, Dr Paul Auerbach, a founder and past President of the Wilderness Medical Society. The Elsevier exhibition booth will be open at the Wilderness Medical Society 28th Wilderness Medicine Scientific Conference & Annual Meeting from July 31st - August 2nd, displaying books, journals, and electronic reference tools. Dr Auerbach will be available at the booth for a book signing on Monday, August 1st, from 11:30am - 12:30pm.
