Business Announcement

Elsevier

Atlanta, GA – 26 April, 2011 – Mosby's eLearning, a pioneer in providing eLearning solutions to more than 1,300 healthcare organizations, and the American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) today introduced the Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Blended Learning Solution, a training certification solution aimed at effectively educating healthcare professionals about adult advanced cardiac life support.

"Healthcare professionals performing advanced cardiac life support should be educated on the latest, evidence-based practice information," said Gregory Ciottone, MD, FACEP, Health & Safety Institute Medical Director, and Assistant Professor of Medicine, Division of Emergency Medicine, Harvard Medical School. "This course helps healthcare professionals deepen their understanding and prepares them to effectively intervene with adult patients requiring advanced cardiac life support."

Based on the 2005 International Consensus on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) Science with Treatment Recommendation, the ACLS Blended Learning Solution provides users with extensive ACLS information through nine online lessons covering all areas of ACLS, from the foundation of emergency cardiac care to stroke and special resuscitation situations. The online lessons can be completed at the learner's convenience, followed by a face-to-face skills verification session with an ASHI-authorized instructor. Upon successful course completion and skills verification, learners become ACLS certified or recertified.

"Healthcare professionals and organizations are now faced with numerous, complex challenges. We wanted to develop a product that would offer an alternative, flexible, more cost-effective learning solution for certification and recertification in advanced cardiac life support, while complying with The Joint Commission standard for resuscitation training," said Linda Honeycutt Dickison, Director, Health Professions eLearning for Mosby's eLearning. "We believe that the ACLS Blended Learning Solution will provide a foundation for advanced cardiac life support education and aid in promoting safe, optimal patient outcomes."

Also included in the course is an e-version of Elsevier Mosby's ACLS Study Guide, Third Edition by Barbara Aehlert, RN, BSPA which offers access to selected, critical excerpts from the renowned text.
