Montreal, March 30, 2011 – Two Quebec universities have launched a new exchange program to provide graduate business education to law students and graduate law courses to business students. Concordia University's John Molson School of Business (JMSB) and the University of Montreal's Faculty of Law have signed a partnership to encourage interdisciplinary studies and to foster inter-institutional collaborations.

JMSB launched the Graduate Diploma/ Certificate in Business Administration, offered full- and-part-time, in 2009. The goal of the program is to cater to students who seek basics in marketing, finance, accounting, human resources management and business law. Thanks to the new agreement, JMSB students will be allowed to pursue graduate courses at the University of Montreal's Faculty of Law and vice versa.

"The GDBA program will be an asset to law students previously unexposed to business subjects. The acquisition of business fundamentals and practical management tools makes the learning experience all the more relevant and transferrable across industries, whether it's law, medicine or the arts," says JMSB Dean Sanjay Sharma. "This is an important milestone in JMSB's history: The fact that our students can take law courses at the University of Montreal, while law students complete graduate business education at Concordia, truly illustrates the uniqueness of this partnership."

Gilles Trudeau, dean of the University of Montreal's Faculty of Law, says this inter-institutional exchange opens new horizons for scholars. "Our students will have an opportunity to choose from several graduate programs that will enhance their educational experience. A solid training in both law and business is a sought-after combination of expertise."
