Tony Blair's former Chief Adviser on Delivery, Sir Michael Barber, has published a new book aiming to be the 'how to' manual for educational policy reform. Together with colleagues Andy Moffit and Paul Kihn, Deliverology 101, A Field Guide For Educational Leaders acts as a field guide, providing a step-by-step field approach to delivering results. It is published by leading US educational publisher Corwin (a SAGE Company).
The timing is ideal, as Barack Obama's administration prioritizes education reform. Citing education reform case studies from more than 20 countries, the authors assert that most previous reforms were unsuccessful due to failed implementation. Deliverology 101 focuses on how to accomplish meaningful results, thoroughly describing Barber's proven reform delivery processes.
However the methods and the programme have a much wider application: Sir Michael stresses that while specifically tailored for the US, 90% of the book's content is equally applicable to Canada, Europe, Australia, and around the world. The book outlines the 15 steps which are based on his personal experiences of managing and leading former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair's delivery unit.
