French society for emergency medicine to publish official journal with Springer

'Annales francaises de medecine d'urgence' debuts in January 2011

La Société française de médecine d'urgence (SFMU) has chosen Springer to publish its scientific research in a new French journal Annales françaises de médecine d'urgence. Bruno Riou, Professor on the Pierre and Marie Curie Faculty of Medicine at the Sorbonne Universities is editor-in-chief of this official society journal.

Published bi-monthly, Annales françaises de médecine d'urgence is targeted at the community of French emergency physicians and will publish original articles, reviews and clinical case studies in all areas of emergency medicine. Authors can submit their articles on the journal's website through an electronic manuscript tracking system.

"Our plan to establish a journal in French that meets the needs of medical education as well as the criteria of a high level scientific publication has led us to develop a new strategy, which we are pursuing with Springer. Springer's publishing expertise, together with an atmosphere of mutual trust, will produce a long-term partnership leading to an excellent journal," said Professor Dominique Pateron, President of the Société française de médecine d'urgence.

"The cooperation with the SFMU strengthens an already successful publishing program by adding the expert international competence of this dynamic society. We are looking forward to a fruitful partnership," said Guido Zosimo-Landolfo, CEO of Springer France, adding that "all of Springer's resources will be implemented to make this a successful and respected journal."

La Société de médecine d'urgence/French Society for Emergency Medicine (http://www.sfmu.org/fr) was formed in 2006 by the merger of the Société Francophone de Médecine d'Urgence with an initiative of thirty doctors and the activities of SAMU (Service d'aide médicale urgente) in France.
