Los Angeles, CA (September 21, 2010) – Cardiac Cath Lab Director is a new bimonthly journal being launched in February 2011 by SAGE, the world's leading independent academic and professional publisher. It is the official journal of the Alliance of Cardiovascular Professionals (ACP) www.acp-online.org.

"Members of the ACP are looking forward to the new Cardiac Cath Lab Director," said Peggy McElgunn, Executive Director of The ACP. "There has never been more of a need for timely, relevant, and peer-reviewed information because the complexity of cardiovascular healthcare coupled with the pace of practice in today's environment demand information for quality delivery of services and support."

Cardiac Cath Lab Director (CCLD) provides administrators and managers of cardiovascular catheter laboratories with the most recent research and evidence-based information regarding cardiac catheterization procedures. Original, peer-reviewed articles cover topics such as review of literature, theoretical foundations, clinical and experimental studies, technological advancements, techniques of insertion and removal, clinical problems and care and maintenance of vascular devices in all patient populations.

"Interventional cardiology is moving at a rapid pace with new discoveries in technology, techniques and management," said CCLD editor Cynthia Chernecky PhD, RN, AOCN, FAAN. "Cardiac catheterization is a hallmark of cardiac care, monitoring and cure. An up-to-date resource like CCLD will assist clinicians and managers with the most recent and practical information to assist professionals in providing excellence in patient centered care."

Topics include:

  • Cardiovascular anatomy/physiology, and pathophysiology
  • Cath Lab department administration and management
  • Diagnostic Doppler and ultrasound techniques
  • Electrocardiography, Holter monitoring, stress testing
  • Electrophysiology (EP) Labs
  • Implications for drug administration
  • Invasive techniques (arteriography, angioplasty, stents, intra-aortic balloon pumps)
  • Pacemaker insertion and monitoring

"We anticipate that CCLD will prove a critical resource for cardiovascular catheterization lab administrators and managers," said Ron Epstein, SAGE Director of STM Journals. "Dr. Chernecky is one of the foremost clinicians and teachers in this field, and we are excited to work with her as the journal's Editor."
