Eurofins MWG Operon adds Roche GS Junior to its sequencer fleet

Ebersberg, Germany, September 28, 2010 - Eurofins MWG Operon, an expert in next generation sequencing (NGS) has expanded its sequencing capacity with a Roche GS Junior. The GS Junior is the optimum system for the sequencing of smaller scale projects which would require only one eighth of the capacity of a GS FLX Titanium run or which would not be suitable for an Illumina run. As a consequence, the GS Junior adds a higher degree of flexibility in project planning and will have a positive impact on the turn around time for small sized projects. In addition, it allows new possibilities in quality control, e.g. library checking in advance of starting high throughput sequencing or the validation of NGS data for molecular diagnostics.

"We are pleased to integrate this new system in our NGS service pipeline. It allows our customers to plan experiments that have not been possible in this short timeframe before. In addition, it will secure the high quality of our high throughput sequencing projects and allow us to develop new applications in a reasonable time and at reasonable cost", says Bruno Poddevin, Eurofins Senior Vice President, Genomic Services.
