Business Announcement

SAGE Publications UK

London (June 9th, 2010) – SAGE, the world's leading independent academic and professional publisher, today announced the further expansion of its flourishing Theology and Religious Studies journals portfolio. From 2011 SAGE will publish Theology in association with SPCK, and Theology Today on behalf of Princeton Theological Seminary.

Theology Today is a peer-reviewed, quarterly journal, founded in 1944 at Princeton Theological Seminary. The journal seeks to introduce to an ecumenical readership of academics and religious leaders significant new figures and movements in Christian theology, fostering intellectual encounters between Christianity and the other Abrahamic faiths, and bringing theological reflection and assessment into dialogue with emerging forms of church life and mission.

Theology is published six times a year and includes peer-reviewed contributions from leading scholars and first-time authors from across the Christian tradition. The journal keeps abreast of the latest developments in all fields of theological enquiry, including contemporary Christian thought and practice, biblical studies, historical theology, systematic theology, pastoral theology, philosophy and ethics. It also seeks to help individuals engage further in key issues regarding ministry and theological education. Theology reaches out to a wide range of readers, from students and theological educators to recent ordinands and established clergy.

"Our Theology and Religious Studies publishing reflects some of the very best work from the leading scholars and societies in these disciplines," said Miranda Nunhofer, Associate Director, Humanities and Social Science Journals. "Throughout our publishing in this field we have sought to establish long-term partnerships with the biblical and theological communities, and are extremely pleased to welcome these esteemed journals into our program."

"How journals are published has changed dramatically in the last five years," commented Professor Iain Torrance, President of Princeton Theological Seminary. "SAGE is an innovative leader in journal publishing, and its electronic bundling and cross-referencing of Theology Today with other journals will provide immensely greater international access. We are delighted to be teamed with Theology and have high expectations for our future with SAGE."

Joanna Moriarty, Publishing Director of SPCK Publishing, commented: 'SPCK is delighted to be working with SAGE to produce and distribute Theology. We are very impressed with the professionalism of the SAGE team and are particularly grateful for their expertise in making the journal, including the entire back catalogue, available online. We believe this will greatly increase its reach and usefulness, both to existing subscribers and to the many new readers who will be able to access and search the journal on screen for the first time.'

As part of the many new services offered by SAGE, both titles will be available electronically via the award-winning platform, SAGE Journals Online. SJO offers market-leading functionality, including toll-free inter-journal linking and full access to the digital backfile.

The first issue of Theology to publish with SAGE will be 114/1 (January 2011). ISSN: 0040-571X ; E-ISSN: 2044-2696; The new journal website will be http://tjx.sagepub.com/.
