Travel Medicine becomes the official journal of RCPSG's Faculty of Travel Medicine

London, 20 April 2010 – Elsevier, the world-leading publisher of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, in partnership with the Faculty of Travel Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (RCPSG), announces that Travel Medicine and Infectious Disease has been chosen to become the official journal of RCPSG's Faculty of Travel Medicine.

RCPSG's Faculty of Travel Medicine was established in 2006. The Faculty has a growing membership of 200 professionals and is one of the leading authorities in travel medicine. Professor Peter Chiodini, Dean of the Faculty of Travel Medicine said, "This faculty is setting standards for practice including a well-established Diploma in Travel Medicine and it is currently offering a process of examination leading to the award of Membership of the Faculty of Travel Medicine, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow".

Travel Medicine and Infectious Disease was launched in 2003. This bi-monthly peer-reviewed journal is indexed in Medline. Dr Jane Zuckerman, Editor-in-Chief added, "The journal Travel Medicine and Infectious Disease embodies many of the goals that the Faculty of Travel Medicine has. The faculty strives to provide a vehicle which will support high quality continuing professional development, and through this journal we will enable travel medicine practitioners to share research and recent developments regionally and nationally in the field of travel medicine."

About Travel Medicine and Infectious Disease

Travel Medicine and Infectious Disease launched in 2003 publishes original papers and invited reviews covering all aspects of travel medicine and infectious disease. These include the epidemiology and surveillance of travel-related infectious disease, vaccine-preventable disease, illness in returning travelers, aviation medicine including psychological aspects, environmental hazards of travel, practical clinical issues for travelers, tropical medicine and tropical skin disease and general aspects of travel medicine and infectious disease.
