ASTROnews wins 2009 MarCom Award

American Society for Radiation Oncology

The American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) has won a Gold Award in the 2009 MarCom Awards competition for the summer 2009 issue of ASTROnews, ASTRO's quarterly magazine.

The MarCom Awards is an international competition for marketing and communication professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of marketing and communication programs and print, visual and audio materials. The awards are administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals.

ASTROnews was selected from almost 5,000 entries from throughout the United States and several foreign countries that were submitted from corporate marketing and communication departments, advertising agencies, PR firms, design shops, production companies and freelancers. The judges chose the winners based on a companies' talent that exceeded a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry.

"ASTRO's Communications Department and ASTROnews Editorial Board work hard year-round to make the magazine an interesting yet useful resource for our members," Phillip M. Devlin, M.D., a radiation oncologist at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston and senior editor of the ASTROnews, said. "To be recognized by a prestigious competition like the MarCom Awards is really a testament to that dedication."
