The Company of Biologists is pleased to announce that its latest journal, Disease Models & Mechanisms (DMM) (dmm.biologists.org) has been selected for inclusion in MEDLINE. MEDLINE (http://www.pubmed.gov) is the premier bibliographic database of the US National Library of Medicine (NLM). Part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), MEDLINE contains over 16 million journal article citations, with a focus on biomedicine.

DMM has been recommended for inclusion by a panel of experts based on both the quality of content and editorial work.

"We are extremely pleased that Disease Models & Mechanisms is being added to the MEDLINE journal collection so soon after its launch in 2008," comments Publisher, Claire Moulton. She continues, "Selection for this prominent database signals recognition of the journal's unique contribution in bringing together a scientific community that, hitherto, had no dedicated journal devoted to its work. DMM will be indexed from its launch issue onwards."

DMM is a collaborative forum for all those involved in the use of model organisms for the understanding, treatment, and diagnosis of human disease. DMM has a wealth of expert analysis, research highlights, commentaries on key findings, along with primary research and clinical perspectives, keeping clinicians and scientists alike up-to-date with the latest breakthroughs.

"The use of model organisms to study disease is a rapidly developing field, and it is critical that clinicians and scientists alike have access to the most cutting edge and authoritative information available," says Editor-in-Chief, Vivian Siegel, "The people involved in DMM are among the very best in the world, the science we cover is important and expanding, and our focus on translational research is already filling a sorely needed niche."

The Company of Biologists are delighted that researchers and clinicians around the world will now have access to DMM abstracts and citations through MEDLINE.
