Grant and Award Announcement

Springer

The Springer textbook Stratosphere Troposphere Interactions: An Introduction has been chosen as the 2008 Atmospheric Science Librarians International (ASLI) Choice for being a comprehensive book on a unique aspect of atmospheric sciences. ASLI presented the 2008 Choice Award for the best book of the year in the fields of meteorology, climatology, and atmospheric sciences during the Annual American Meteorological Society meeting in Phoenix, Arizona, on 14 January 2009. Springer editor Dr. Robert Doe and the author Professor K. Mohankumar were on hand to accept the award.

Stratosphere Troposphere Interactions ranked high in all criteria upon which the books are judged: uniqueness, comprehensiveness, usefulness, quality, authoritativeness, organization, illustrations/diagrams, competition and references. The textbook describes various physical, radiative, dynamical and chemical processes involved in the coupling between the stratosphere and troposphere. The information provided in the textbook has broad applicability in all branches of atmospheric science and is of interest to those studying such areas as climate change, extreme weather events and the potential for the prediction of tropospheric weather systems.

Robert Doe said, "Stratosphere Troposphere Interactions is a valuable reference for all atmospheric scientists. It includes all the latest developments and is enhanced with numerous diagrams and figures. I am delighted that it was chosen to receive this prestigious award."
