Global publisher John Wiley & Sons, Inc (NYSE: JWa), (NYSE: JWb), announced today that two outstanding young Thai chemists have been selected as the recipients of the Wiley-CST Award for Outstanding Publication 2008.

Jointly organized by John Wiley and the Chemical Society of Thailand (CST), the award is aimed at encouraging and recognizing the original, innovative, and outstanding research of young Thai chemists working in the chemical sciences at the outset of their independent research careers. The CST is part of the Asian Chemical Editorial Network which co-owns and supports Chemistry -- An Asian Journal, published by Wiley.

Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn – an official patron of the Chemical Society of Thailand since December 2008 – presided over the opening ceremony of Pure and Applied Chemistry International Conference (PACCON2009), held in January from 14-16, at Naresuan University in Phitsanulok, Thailand. Her Royal Highness also presented the award to the two winners – Dr. Khamphee Phomphrai from the Department of Chemistry at Mahidol University and Associate Professor Dr. Mongkol Sukwattanasinitt from Chulalongkorn University's Department of Chemistry – in recognition of their outstanding work in the field of chemical sciences.

President of the Chemical Society of Thailand, Dr. Supawan Tantayanon said, "We believe that this award will spur the young chemists on in their pursuit for excellence in the chemical sciences. We are very excited to have received such tremendous support for this initiative – we are thankful in having a publisher of John Wiley's caliber as our sponsor, as well as to the HRH Princess's presence at the presentation ceremony."

Wiley's Vice-President & Managing Director for Physical Sciences, Mr. Steven Miron, added, "This award recognizes the valuable contributions of young Thai chemists to the field and reflects Wiley's commitment to bringing top Asian scientific research content to a global audience. We would like to thank our partners in this important endeavor, the Chemical Society of Thailand."
