Phytoparasitica is an international journal that publishes original research contributions on the biological, chemical and molecular aspects of entomology, plant pathology, virology, nematology and weed sciences, including insecticides, fungicides, herbicides and other biocides. Emphasis is on new approaches in the control of pests and diseases.

Phytoparasitica also publishes invited reviews, research notes and book reviews. Guest editorials written by reputable scientists attest to the high quality of the content. Editors-in-chief are Professor Jaacov Katan from the Department of Plant Pathology and Microbiology at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel and the virologist Professor Benjamin Raccah from the Agricultural Research Organization at The Volcani Center in Bet Dagan, Israel.

Professor Katan said, "We are excited to be cooperating with a strong partner like Springer in the publication of this journal. Springer journals have high visibility in the electronic environment in academic and industrial institutions and Phytoparasitica will strongly benefit from this. We look forward to providing researchers and experts in the field of plant sciences with information resources for their daily work."

Professor Raccah said, "For many years, I have enjoyed reading and submitting articles to journals published by Springer. I am convinced that Phytoparasitica will greatly benefit from Springer's expertise and experience to expand the content of the journal as well as the spectrum of readers."

"Springer is pleased to be enlarging its portfolio in plant sciences through this acquisition," said Zuzana Bernhart, Publishing Editor for Plant Sciences at Springer. "The journal is unique because it targets scientists focused on plant protection who are active primarily in subtropical areas, especially the Mediterranean region. We are convinced that the journal has potential to grow and by including additional subtropical biomes, Phytoparasitica will be able to even better serve the international plant protection community."

Under Springer, Phytoparasitica will benefit from a manuscript tracking system that speeds publication of important articles in the field. Articles will be published in Online First™ in full text via SpringerLink. This system ensures immediate distribution of the electronic version of the article before it appears in print. Cross Reference Linking and alert services will be fully implemented for the journal.
