Los Angeles, London, New Delhi, Singapore, and Washington DC (December 9, 2008) – SAGE, the world's fifth largest journals publisher, has partnered with the American College of Toxicology (ACT) to publish its official publication, the International Journal of Toxicology (IJT), beginning in 2009.

The peer-reviewed, bi-monthly International Journal of Toxicology publishes current research for toxicologists, including such issues as: safety assessments, novel approaches to toxicological testing, mechanisms of toxicity, biomarkers, and risk assessment. The journal also publishes invited reviews on contemporary topics, articles based on symposia, and quarterly supplements from the Cosmetic Review Expert Panel.

"ACT searched for a publisher who would increase the visibility of the journal world-wide and with experience in publishing journals similar to IJT," said A. Wallace Hayes, past president of the American College of Toxicology. "SAGE brings to the table a wealth of expertise in high-quality online and print production processes and a demonstrated proficiency in marketing and sales to libraries and consortia."

IJT is currently read by basic and applied toxicologists in academia, industry, and regulatory agencies worldwide and is a benefit for members of the American College of Toxicology.

"International Journal of Toxicology is a key addition to our growing STM portfolio at SAGE," said Jayne Marks, SAGE Vice-President of Journals. "It is a complement to our other toxicology journals Toxicologic Pathology, Human and Experimental Toxicology, and Toxicology and Industrial Health, and will provide toxicologists with access to toll-free full-text article linking between these and hundreds of other journals hosted on the award-winning SAGE Journals Online."
