HOBOKEN, N.J. — Stevens Institute of Technology Professor Gary S. Lynn was recognized as one of the most prolific scholars in the world for his research on technology innovation by the International Association for the Management of Technology (IAMOT). The award is based on his research in the area for the past five years. This is the second time Dr. Lynn won this award. The first time was in 2003.

Lynn is a tenured professor and teaches marketing, innovation and entrepreneurship at the undergraduate, graduate and executive levels at the Howe School of Technology Management at Stevens Institute of Technology. He has won several awards for both teaching and research and was selected by Business 2.0 Magazine as one of the top ten management gurus in the world.

"Gary's work in technology-based entrepreneurship is emblematic of the academically rigorous and high-impact research that is being done at Stevens," said Lex McCusker, Dean of the Howe School of Technology Management. "Stevens has a strong culture of technology entrepreneurship across all its science and engineering disciplines, and the Howe School complements that work with world-class research on the corporate and academic mechanisms for moving inventions into the marketplace."

Lynn's research has been transformed into tools and metrics to help companies innovate better and faster. Together with Dr. Richard Reilly, also of Stevens, they developed a technique for companies to assess their technology platforms, estimate their probabilities of success, and outline what can be done to improve the chances of success. This "Innovation Report Card" assessment has been verified with hundreds of companies, including Cisco Systems, Corning, Exxon, GE, Hitachi, Honeywell, IBM, Johnson & Johnson, Kodak, Merck, Motorola, Nabisco and five government research labs.

Dr. Lynn will be presented with the Research Publication award during IAMOT's annual conference, scheduled for April 5-9, 2009 in Orlando, Florida.
