Business Announcement

Springer

Fisheries Science will be published by Springer as of January 2009. The official journal of the Japanese Society of Fisheries Science, previously published by Wiley-Blackwell, is respected internationally for the publication of basic and applied research articles in a broad range of subject areas relevant to fisheries science.

Published in English six times a year, Fisheries Science includes original and review articles covering a wide array of topics in both marine and freshwater research. All articles are peer reviewed by at least two experts in the field of the submitted paper. The journal has a rich history of publishing quality papers in fisheries, biology, aquaculture, environment, chemistry, biochemistry and food science and technology. The editor-in-chief is Dr. Toshio Takeuchi of the Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology. Fisheries Science will be available in print and on Springer's online platform SpringerLink.

Editor-in-Chief Toshio Takeuchi said, "As the world's population continues to grow in the coming years, we will continue to confront food shortages together with environmental pollution and habitat destruction. For these reasons, fisheries science and its allied scientists must expand into a wider range of fields in aquatic science and reach a wider audience. Springer's expertise in publishing will definitely help to further enhance the journal's profile and availability."

Dr. Dieter Czeschlik, Editorial Director for Life Sciences at Springer, said, "We are excited to be working with the Japanese Society of Fisheries Science, and their journal will be an excellent addition to our publishing program. Our Online First service will shorten publication time, and we are committed to increasing the journal's worldwide visibility."
