Springer and CiteULike announce collaboration

Business Announcement

Springer

CiteULike, with millions of tagged references, is the leading social bookmarking service for scientific researchers and was created to promote and develop the sharing of scientific references among researchers.

"Cooperation with CiteULike will help SpringerLink's users collaboratively manage scientific references, and will save them time and effort," said Olaf Ernst, President of eProduct Management and Innovation at Springer. "Not only are we providing our users with enhanced functionality, but we are working closely to integrate the new technology in ways that will enhance the discovery of relevant literature, and provide SpringerLink's users with a richer context."

"We're looking forward to working with Springer since the cooperation presents many opportunities to work on what we see as interesting challenges in academic publishing. We believe that CiteULike will help researchers to find connections in a sea of published material. The agreement with Springer will allow us to develop the tools to do this," said CiteULike's founder, Richard Cameron.

Researchers will now have the option of extracting bibliographic references from over 50 scientific sources with one click, and will allow them to capture and store a reference to a scientific article or chapter, add their own tags and ratings to that resource, share the resource with their peers via group libraries, and even export those libraries in various citation formats.
