Los Angeles, London, New Delhi, and Singapore (May 2, 2008) –SAGE, the world’s fifth largest journals publisher, will publish the Journal of School Nursing (JOSN) and the NASN Newsletter for the National Association of School Nurses (NASN) beginning in August 2008.

JOSN provides a forum for advancing the specialty of school nursing, promoting the professional growth of school nurses, and improving the health of children in school. Published bi-monthly, it is peer-reviewed and features original clinical, nonclinical, and research articles. It is indexed in MEDLINE, the Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health Literature, PsychINFO, and Scopus.

SAGE is also custom publishing the NASN Newsletter, the bimonthly official newsletter of the National Association of School Nurses.

“We anticipate our partnership with SAGE will help us greatly expand our reach, impact and readership,” said Amy Garcia, RN, MSN, Executive Director of NASN. “SAGE is well-known to nurses, but the marketing and online distribution benefits alone would have made SAGE the obvious choice for us.”

JOSN will be added to SAGE Journals Online (SJO), recently named 2007 “Best Platform” by the Professional and Scholarly Publishing division of the Association of American Publishers. For the first time, libraries will now have access to COUNTER compliant usage statistics, advanced search features, articles published ahead of print with OnlineFirst, Web 2.0 features such as PDA article downloading and RSS feeds, and free linking to all references on HighWire.

The first SAGE issue of JOSN will be August 2008. It will be available on SAGE Journals Online at http://josn.sagepub.com.

“School nurses play a pivotal role in child and adolescent health care, health promotion, and case management services, creating an environment for student well-being and academic success. The NASN provides critical leadership for these professionals, and SAGE is proud to become their publishing partner,” said Jayne Marks, SAGE Vice President of Global Journals Business Development. “A leading publisher of journals for nurses, SAGE is the natural home for societies such as NASN and we look forward to working closely with them to advance both JOSN and The NASN Newsletter to the next level of success.”

NASN improves the health and educational success of children and youth by developing and providing leadership to advance school nursing practice. The NASN is the leading worldwide expert for school health services and represents school nurses on national and federal committees which affect health services to children. Its 13,000 members receive JOSN as a benefit of membership. www.nasn.org
