Springer has just published the first issue of the new International Commerce Review (ICR), the official publication of the International Commerce Institute. The ICR, with a new look and vision, replaces the ECR Journal and will be published quarterly from 2008. It contains the latest research and thinking in consumer goods, presenting information in an easy-to-read, “non-academic” way.

The International Commerce Review bridges the gap between consumer goods industry practitioners (both retailers and manufacturers) and academics, to the mutual benefit of both. It brings academics’ best work to the attention of practitioners, and communicates practitioners’ research priorities and interests to academics. The ICR contains original papers, case reports, short communications, book reviews and society news. The international editorial board is headed by Daniel T. Jones of the Lean Enterprise Academy in Herefordshire, UK.

Werner A. Mueller, Vice President Business/Economics & Statistics at Springer, said, "Springer is delighted to cooperate with the International Commerce Institute in publishing the International Commerce Review. Through our excellent distribution network, especially via our online platform SpringerLink, we can bring the ICR to the attention of academics and managers worldwide."

Daniel T. Jones, Editor-in-Chief, said, “The consumer goods industry is changing rapidly, and the pace of change is increasing. We need a forum to collate and debate new ideas and to identify the opportunities and pitfalls: somewhere where practitioners can find the latest cutting-edge research and where researchers can get an airing for their discoveries. With the help of Springer, the International Commerce Institute and International Commerce Review are providing such a forum.”

The International Commerce Review is available in print and electronically on www.springerlink.com. The journal includes Online First™, Cross Reference Linking, and Alert services. In addition, all authors, via the Springer Open Choice™ program, have the option of publishing their articles using the open access publishing model.

The International Commerce Institute’s mission is to bring about a behavioral change in relationships among consumer goods practitioners. This is achieved by promoting joint growth and development through shared learning and the implementation of ECR (Efficient Customer Response) best practice. The Institute's activities include accreditation and industry qualification programs, executive and vocational education programs, partnerships with academia, and publications to disseminate ECR knowledge.
