Comparative Analysis of Alcohol Control Policies in 30 Countries

In a study in this week’s issue of PLoS Medicine, Albert Lowenfels and colleagues used a new metric called the Alcohol Policy Index, which is designed to allow comparisons between countries of their alcohol policies. A clear inverse relationship was found between policy strength and alcohol consumption. The study is discussed in a related perspective article by Alison Ritter.

Genetics of Stroke in Non-Europeans

This meta-analysis found that genetic associations so far studied for ischemic stroke among non-Europeans are similar to those found for persons of European descent.
