Biophysical Society awards Quhuan Li a visiting student travel grant

Student from Sun Yat-Sen University to visit Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation laboratory

The Biophysical Society is pleased to announce that Quhuan Li, a graduate student at Sun Yat-sen University in China, has been selected to receive an International Visiting Graduate Student Travel Award. The award will cover travel expenses associated with Li's three-month visit to Dr. Rodger McEver's laboratory at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation. Li will also receive a complimentary membership to the Biophysical Society.

Ms. Li's research interest is in the area of flow-enhanced cell adhesion. During her visit to Oklahoma, she will learn how McEver's lab uses flow chamber techniques and high-speed video microscopy to measure cell adhesion. With this knowledge, Li will return to Sun Yat-sen Univeristy to set up the same systems in Dr. Jianhua Wu's laboratory, which she will use to conduct her doctoral research.

The Biophysical Society created the International Visiting Graduate Student Travel Award to foster and initiate further interaction between established biophysicists around the world and scientists working in countries experiencing financial difficulties. The award covers travel expenses that allow the recipient to visit the lab of Biophysical Society regular member for up to three months.
