Grant and Award Announcement

International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research

The 2006 Research in Oral Biology Award will be presented today to Dr. Richard Lamont, Professor of Oral Microbiology in the Department of Oral Biology at the University of Florida at Gainesville.

The award recognizes Dr Lamont's exceptional contributions to our understanding of the molecular basis of interactions between oral micro-organisms and human host tissues. He has published widely, currently serves on two editorial boards, and has long been committed to serving the IADR community.

Dr. Lamont receives his award during the Opening Ceremonies of the 84th General Session of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR), convening at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.

The IADR Research in Oral Biology Distinguished Scientist Award, sponsored since its inception by the Church & Dwight Company, Inc., is designed to recognize outstanding research in the field of oral biology other than in those areas already recognized by specific awards. It is one of 15 Distinguished Scientist Awards bestowed annually by the IADR, representing the Association's highest honor.
