Joslin Diabetes Center partners with St. John Health's Providence hospital in Michigan

BOSTON -- Joslin Diabetes Center, the global leader in diabetes research, care and education, has announced its partnership with Providence Hospital in Southfield and St. John Providence Park in Novi, both in the suburbs of Detroit, MI. Providence Hospital is part of St. John Health, the largest health system in southeast Michigan. The Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate, which opened April 10, offers the latest advances for treating diabetes and its complications as well as patient education and support services.

"Joslin is dedicated to working with our partners at Providence Hospital to provide state-of-the-art care and education to people with diabetes in that area," says John W. Hare, M.D., Director of Joslin's Affiliated Centers Program. "The more than 77,000 people in the Detroit area diagnosed with diabetes and the additional 26,800 who have diabetes but are undiagnosed now have convenient access to Joslin's expertise and resources necessary to help them live long and productive lives with the disease."

About the New Affiliate

Providence Hospital's multidisciplinary program includes the services of an endocrinologist, an internist, a nurse practitioner specializing in diabetes, certified diabetes educators, registered dietitians, a clinical nurse specialist, registered nurses and access to group and individual diabetes education. Other services include physician consultations, medication management, continuous glucose monitoring system, insulin pump therapy, gestational diabetes education series and access to specialist referral and follow-up care.
