Global publisher John Wiley & Sons, Inc., and The American Ceramic Society (ACerS) today announced that they have signed a multi-year agreement to jointly publish books and meeting proceedings, effective March 2006.

Under the agreement, Wiley and ACerS will co-publish approximately 20-30 books and proceedings per year in the fields of ceramics, ceramic engineering, glasses, composites, crystallization, abrasives, cements, whitewares, and advanced ceramics. Wiley will oversee the publishing services for these titles, including production, marketing, and distribution worldwide. Wiley and ACerS will collaborate on editorial development.

"Wiley is pleased to be working with The American Ceramic Society," said Janet Bailey, Vice President of Scientific, Technical and Medical Books and Reference Works, John Wiley & Sons, Inc. "This agreement brings together the ACerS's 108 years of experience serving ceramics professionals and students with Wiley's 199 years of publishing expertise. This vast amount of experience will ensure that ACerS members and the larger international ceramics community are getting the content they need to do their jobs, conduct research, and make advancements in their fields."

"The partnership between The American Ceramic Society and John Wiley & Sons is on target with the Society's strategic plan to provide our members with world-class editorial content while leveraging Wiley's extensive publishing experience," said Dr. Warren Wolf, President, The American Ceramic Society. Dr. Wolf further commented that "We believe this relationship will ensure accessibility of the Society's vast knowledge base to the global community in the most marketable and useful formats available."

In addition to distributing approximately 30 backlist book titles published by ACerS, including the best-selling titles The Magic of Ceramics, Materials Science of Concrete: Concrete Technology, Introduction to Phase Equilibria in Ceramics, Glass-Ceramic Technology, and High Performance Cement Based Concrete Composites, Wiley will also distribute 65 backlist meeting publications, representing important achievements in the field. These publications include proceedings from the Pacific-Rim Conference, the International Ceramic Science Symposium, and the Crystallization Conference, as well as the Ceramic Engineering and Science Proceedings (CESP).
