Research to Prevent Blindness (RPB) has awarded a grant of $110,000 to the Department of Ophthalmology at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine to support research in the causes, treatment and prevention of blinding diseases. The research will be directed by Jonathan H. Lass, M.D., chair of the department at Case and University Hospitals of Cleveland. The funding will go towards faculty support, equipment and pilot studies.

RPB is the world's leading voluntary organization supporting eye research. To date, the organization has awarded grants totaling $1,332,500 to the Case School of Medicine.
